King-American Ambulance Company responds to calls for emergency and non-emergency medical services in San Francisco. We respond to private calls maintaining contracts with hospitals and medical facilities, and to calls through the City & County’s 9-1-1 system; we serve the professional medical community and the general public as a licensed provider of Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Critical Care Transport (CCT) levels of service. King-American works closely with the San Francisco Fire and Police Departments; and with the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management (DEM) which consists of two divisions:
The Division of Emergency Communications (DEC) provides 9-1-1 emergency dispatch services for Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services. DEC dispatches the closest permitted Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance regardless of agency affiliation to all code 3 requests for emergency medical services. The Division of Emergency Services (DES) coordinates disaster preparation and response planning in partnership with City agencies, non-profit entities, schools and the private sector. DES also houses the Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMSA). EMSA coordinates all of the components of the City and County’s pre-hospital care system. Read What People Say About Our Service.
